GMB Scotland In Local Government COSLA Pay Consultative Ballot

Our priority is the defence of your interests. That’s why we have launched a consultative ballot of our local government membership over the three year pay offer tabled by COSLA.

On Tuesday 12 February you will receive your ballot to your mobile phone.

You will be provided with a password and a link to your ballot paper which you should open. Insert the password when prompted, read the ballot paper, select ‘OK’ and then vote either ‘accept’ or reject’.

GMB recommends you accept this offer. Our campaign materials outlining our position can be accessed here, on our campaigns page.

Negotiations between COSLA, the Scottish Government and the Joint Trade Union (GMB, Unison and Unite) offer your pay offer have now been exhausted.

The employer’s final offer proposes the following:

  • 2018 / 19 – 3.5 % increase (fully backdated to April 1st 2018)
  • 2019 / 20 – 3 % increase
  • 2020/21 – 3 % increase
  • Consolidation of the Scottish Local Government Living Wage (SLGLW) across every council

We have secured a better deal for 2018/19 and the consolidation of the living wage will put more money into members’ pockets as we bring back the differentials between the lowest grades.

The deal is not perfect but we believe this offer is the best that can be achieved through negotiation and without the need for industrial action.

That’s why are recommending you accept the offer.

Please look for our updates to your mobile and have your say on your pay offer.
