Dear GMB Member

GMB Scotland in Volvo – GMB, Unite & VCE Haulers Joint Statement

Following meetings this morning (Friday 26 April), wage negotiations have now concluded and we have reached an agreement which the Joint Shop Stewards Committee (JSSC) will recommend for acceptance to members.

Mass meetings are planned for Monday 29 April and will take place in the North End Lunch Room from:

  • Dayshift 11AM
  • Backshift 3PM
  • Nightshift 9.15PM

Consequently, the planned overtime ban for Monday 29 April 2019 is suspended pending the outcome of a workplace consultative ballot which will take place on Tuesday 30 April (same times as above for each shift).

In the meantime, if you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact your GMB workplace reps, contact me on 0141 332 8641 (office hours) or email gary.cook@gmb.org.uk

GMB Scotland in Volvo – Industrial Action Update

Talks over your pay between the joint trade unions (GMB and Unite) and your employer will take place at 10AM on Friday 26 April at the Scottish Engineering Offices in Glasgow.

Our message will be clear: Lift the derisory 2% pay imposition on the 2018 offer and bring forward a fresh offer that is worthy of our members’ consultation.

This is what the employer needs to do if it wants to avoid strike action next month. After your near 80% support for strike action, the employer needs to listen.

Members should also be aware that an indefinite overtime ban will start at 7AM this Monday 29 April.

We will update you as soon as possible upon the close of talks this Friday. In the meantime, if you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact your reps, call me on 0141 332 8641 during office hours (Quote: “Terex – Volvo”) or email gmbscotcampaigns@gmb.org.uk

Dear GMB Member

Volvo - Industrial Action Update

Following the overwhelming vote for industrial action, today Monday 15 April the joint trade unions served the statutory 14 days notice on Volvo of industrial action. This action will be an overtime ban and will begin at 7am on 29 April 2019.

Volvo have asked the joint trade unions to meet to try and resolve the dispute on 26 April.

Let us be clear, the only way to stop this dispute is to have meaningful discussions that put an offer on the table that meets our members expectations.

We will keep you updated on the outcome of the meeting.

If you have questions please do not hesitate to contact your reps, call me on 0141 332 8641 during office hours (Quote: “Terex – Volvo”) or email gmbscotcampaigns@gmb.org.uk

GMB Scotland in Volvo - Industrial Action Update - Amendment

Following the overwhelming vote for industrial action, the joint trade unions will meet in Wednesday 10 April to discuss the way forward, Volvo have asked GMB and Unite to re-engage to try and resolve the dispute, the trade union had ask that ACAS conciliate this meeting, unfortunately they are not available on the 26th, both unions have decide to attend this meeting as we did not want any hold up to a resolution to the dispute.

Let us be clear, this meeting will not stop us moving forward with any action we choose to take.

We will update you following the meeting on the 10 April.

Dear GMB Member

GMB Scotland in Volvo – Industrial Action Ballot and Pay Talks Update

Following yesterday’s resounding rejection of your employer’s derisory 2 per cent pay imposition and your significant support for industrial action, I can confirm this morning (Tuesday 2 April) that management has requested talks with your GMB representatives.

A date is now being arranged for the week beginning Monday 15 April and GMB members will be notified immediately when this is confirmed.

Please note this does not affect or compromise the validity of your industrial action ballot mandate; this remains valid for six months under UK employment and trade union law.

Our message to your employer will be very straightforward: GMB members have sent a loud and clear message that they want a better pay deal for 2018 and as a union, we will not accept impositions that result in real terms cuts for our members.

The ball is now in the employer’s court to table an improved pay offer for your consultation. That’s the challenge they need to meet if they want to avoid industrial action.  In the meantime, let’s all stick together and stay focused on our campaign for better pay.

Again, communications will be frequent so please ensure your contact details are up to date. You can do this be contacting your GMB workplace reps or by going online at www.gmb.org.uk/mygmb

And if you have any questions at all then please do not hesitate to contact me on 0141 332 8641 during office hours (quoting: ‘Terex – Volvo’) or email gmbscotcampaigns@gmb.org.uk
