GMB Scotland in The Holmes Care Group – Holiday Pay Entitlement

The priority of GMB Scotland is the defence of your interests.

It has come to our attention that The Holmes Care Group may not be paying employees the correct amount of holiday pay.

Your holiday pay should be based on the average rate for all the hours you worked for the 12 week period before you went on holiday. This includes any overtime pay, shift allowances or bonuses you might have received.

If you have received any payments like this in the 12 weeks you worked before going on holiday, then, by law, these payments should be included when your holiday pay rate is calculated.

If you think you may have been affected, please contact me as soon as possible for advice and support in getting your holiday pay backdated.

You can reach me on 0141 332 8641 or email at ude.adigwe@gmb.org.uk - any inquiry will be treated with confidentiality.

GMB Scotland in Larchwood Care –Larchwood ends training fines

The priority of GMB Scotland is the defence of your interests.

That’s why we have been campaigning since February to end the unfair policy in Larchwood of discretionary fines on employees for non-attendance at mandatory training.

Our collective grievance against this attack on your earnings proved decisive in making Larchwood’s Chief Executive sit up and take notice of your concerns about this policy.

Following constructive meetings last month in Birmingham, I can now confirm GMB has received written confirmation that the discretionary fines policy has been formally ended.

We will now work with your employer to help ensure Larchwood’s training policies and systems work for everyone –staff, management and the service user – in a fair manner.

Therefore, it is important that we continue to organise and grow our trade union, so we can ensure you receive the proper recognition and reward for the work you do.

We will be visiting homes across Scotland over the coming weeks, with details of our confirmed schedule to follow. So please check your SMS and emails!

GMB Scotland in Larchwood Care – Important Update: Larchwood to end training fines

The priority of GMB Scotland is the defence of your interests.

That is why your GMB reps met with Larchwood Care Chief Executive Kevin Groombridge yesterday (Thursday 26 April) afternoon at your employer’s headquarters in Birmingham.

The message we delivered to Mr Groombridge was clear: Larchwood must reverse its policy of discretionary fines on employees for non-attendance at mandatory training.

We are pleased to confirm that your employer has agreed to withdraw this policy. I will communicate the detail of the meeting and the time-scales for these changes shortly.

Make no mistake; this would not have been possible without your campaign against these training fines and your collective grievance against your employer.

It is important that we continue to organise and grow our trade union in Larchwood, so we can ensure you receive the proper recognition and reward for the work you do.

There has never been a better time to join GMB so if your colleagues are not yet in a trade union, please encourage them to get in touch with me on 07501 229564, email dominic.allen@gmb.org.uk or join online at www.gmb.org.uk/join
