GMB Scotland in Larchwood Care –Larchwood ends training fines

The priority of GMB Scotland is the defence of your interests.

That’s why we have been campaigning since February to end the unfair policy in Larchwood of discretionary fines on employees for non-attendance at mandatory training.

Our collective grievance against this attack on your earnings proved decisive in making Larchwood’s Chief Executive sit up and take notice of your concerns about this policy.

Following constructive meetings last month in Birmingham, I can now confirm GMB has received written confirmation that the discretionary fines policy has been formally ended.

We will now work with your employer to help ensure Larchwood’s training policies and systems work for everyone –staff, management and the service user – in a fair manner.

Therefore, it is important that we continue to organise and grow our trade union, so we can ensure you receive the proper recognition and reward for the work you do.

We will be visiting homes across Scotland over the coming weeks, with details of our confirmed schedule to follow. So please check your SMS and emails!

 Dear GMB Member

GMB Scotland in Larchwood Care – Important Update: Larchwood to end training fines

The priority of GMB Scotland is the defence of your interests.

That is why your GMB reps met with Larchwood Care Chief Executive Kevin Groombridge yesterday (Thursday 26 April) afternoon at your employer’s headquarters in Birmingham.

The message we delivered to Mr Groombridge was clear: Larchwood must reverse its policy of discretionary fines on employees for non-attendance at mandatory training.

We are pleased to confirm that your employer has agreed to withdraw this policy. I will communicate the detail of the meeting and the time-scales for these changes shortly.

Make no mistake; this would not have been possible without your campaign against these training fines and your collective grievance against your employer.

It is important that we continue to organise and grow our trade union in Larchwood, so we can ensure you receive the proper recognition and reward for the work you do.

There has never been a better time to join GMB so if your colleagues are not yet in a trade union, please encourage them to get in touch with me on 07501 229564, email dominic.allen@gmb.org.uk or join online at www.gmb.org.uk/join
