Dear GMB Member

GMB in Greenlight Environmental – Administration and Redundancy Announcement

The priority of GMB Scotland is the defence of our members’ interests.

That’s why we are bitterly disappointed at today’s announcement confirming that your employer has entered into administration, starting the collective redundancy process.

We will provide you with every possible support and we will campaign hard for the respective councils to bring this service ‘in-house’ – and with it your employment.

Our message to the three councils is straightforward: Step-in now and save Greenlight!

West Dunbartonshire Council’s Elected Members’ Bulletin, published today merely served to reaffirm our arguments as to why Greenlight should be brought into public hands.

Greenlight’s administration will mean the closure of civic amenities, disruption to collections and ultimately, your responsibilities will be picked-up by other services under strain.

The obvious move is for West Dunbartonshire, Inverclyde and Argyll & Bute Councils to take your jobs, services and infrastructure into council ownership.

This will ensure the delivery of existing services for the public and maintain sustainable levels of staffing for that service delivery, and defend your jobs, terms and conditions.

In the meantime, if you required any advice or have any questions please do not hesitate to contact us on 0141 332 8641 during office hours or email hazel.nolan@gmb.org.uk or louise.gilmour@gmb.org.uk
